by the end of this course, students will:- Understand the Islamic concepts of Nafs, Fitrah, and the dynamics of Good and Evil.
- Identify and cultivate essential virtues for
character building and spiritual growth.
- Recognize harmful Traits and learn strategies
to overcome them.
- Explore Emotional and Psychological
challenges through an Islamic lens.
- Apply practical spiritual remedies to enhance
personal development and connect with Allah swt.

Module 1: Understanding
the Self and Its Nature
- What is the Nafs (Self)?
- Understanding Fitrah (Innate Disposition): Its role and significance.
- Concept of Good and Evil: Defining virtue and sin.
- Spirituality vs. Psychology: Differentiating soul and heart from mental health and psychology.
Module 2: Core
Virtues of Human Development
- Introduction to the Four Foundational Traits
(Khisal Arba'a):
- Purity/Chastity (Taharah):
- Ritual purification (Wudu and Ghusl).
- Natural practices for cleanliness.
- Humility/Wisdom (Ikhbat):
- Faith, Tawhid, and reliance on Allah.
- Obedience, sincerity, and intention.
- Truthfulness and mindfulness (Salah, Dhikr,
and reflection).
- Contentment, generosity, and love.
- Repentance and spiritual fulfillment.
- Justice (Adalat):
- Fairness in beliefs, actions, and
interactions.
- Importance of community, compassion, and
mutual respect.
- Upholding rights, preventing oppression,
and maintaining discipline.
- Courage/Generosity (Samahat):
- Sacrificing wealth and desires for a
greater cause.
- High aspirations, patience, gratitude, and

- Ignorance (Jahl):
- Lack of awareness about Allah and truth.
- Misrepresentation of good and evil.
- Desires (Shahwat):

indulgence.

- Aggression (Sharast):
- Anger, jealousy, and hostility.
- Satanic Influences (Shaytanat):
- Arrogance, vanity, and deceit.

- Fear and Anxiety (Khauf wa Faza’): Causes and symptoms.
- Anger and Aggression (Ghazab wa Tadaf’u): Managing impulsive behaviors.
- Sadness and Depression (Huzn wa Jaza’): Spiritual approaches to mental well-being.
- Obsession and Madness (Waswasa): Root causes and remedies.

- Oneness of Allah (Tawhid) as Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT):

- Charity (Infaq) and Hope: Strengthening resilience.
- Meditation and Accountability (Muraqaba &
Muhasaba): Reflection methods.
- Repentance (Tawbah): Purifying the soul.

Reminders (Tadhkirat Thalatha).
